Where and When God?

Have you ever felt God was leading you to do something yet all the doors seemed to be tightly shut?

Recently, my husband and I started looking for a house to purchase.   We sold our home of 14 years last January and decided to rent for a year before taking the plunge again.

Feeling the timing was right, we began our search in January.   We have spent a lot of time on MLS and looking at houses.    Whether we are looking in the wrong places, at the wrong time or we are just too picky, I’m not sure.  There have been several we liked well enough to put a contract on, but other offers came before we had the chance.

Maybe God is just protecting us.  The same scenario played out when we were looking for our last house.  Then one day my husband tried to drive by a house he had seen advertised and ended up in a different neighborhood.   "Our house" was right in front of him.   We knew it was "the one" when we walked inside.

I do believe God has planned ahead for us and will keep us from making a mistake.    I believe He has prepared a place for us here on earth as well as in heaven.  I think He has neighbors for us to meet and connections we need to make, and He will lead us to them.

Acts 17:26-27 says, “From one man He (God) made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.  God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each of us. “

That’s my theme verse for this season.  Every day we want to be in the exact place God has ordained.

Here are some things I'm learning:

1.              Set aside time daily to seek God.

2.              Realize God directs our steps and makes them sure.   I may plan my way, but I give Him permission to reroute when needed.

3.              Be confident when doors close, there’s a good reason, and God may be protecting us.

4.              Persistence and patience are important when looking for a home or any type of direction from God.

5.              Enjoy the journey.

Maybe you are not looking for a home but you may need a job, spouse or something else.  These principles still apply.  Feel free to share your own lessons learned in the comment section.
