Me -- Without Spot or Wrinkle?

Ephesians 5:25-27
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

This morning while getting ready for the day, I found myself praying for someone single that God would provide a bride that was without spot or wrinkle.  I spoke without even thinking about what I was praying.  As I pondered the phrase, I knew I had to look up the scripture and delve a little deeper.

I understand the scripture follows up “without stain (spot) or wrinkle”  with being “holy and blameless,” but I couldn’t help but think about physical wrinkles and blemishes today.    Maybe it's because I was putting on makeup while praying.

I might not be able to completely get rid of my physical wrinkles or blemishes, but I can take care of myself physically for my husband.  That is my challenge today.   It’s doesn’t take long to make sure I look and smell my best before he comes home from work.

Yes, Jerry loves me “just as I am" fortunately, but why should he see me that way all the time?  There were times when the kids were small, I didn't freshen up before he came home.  I wanted him to see how hard I had been working.  I probably smelled like cleaning products or spit up from the baby and was in dirty sweats.  Then it hit me.  He sees pretty women all day long.  I should make him excited to come home to me.  Maybe you are a natural beauty and preparation isn't necessary, but for me, I have to work at it.
Women are turned on emotionally more than physically, but to husbands their wives’ physical appearance is what turns them on.

Today – take the challenge with me (if you have a spouse – or even if you are waiting for one).  Take time to freshen up when “the look” changes.  It doesn’t take but a minute to do so.
