The Whisper of God

1 Kings 19:11-12
The Lord said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by."

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind.  After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.  After the earthquake came a fire.  And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

This verse has a special meaning to me.  There was a time in my life when I had a burden for someone who was not doing things God's way.  I was convinced it would take something as monumental as the wind, earthquake or fire that Elijah observed to get his attention.  Instead it merely took a gentle whisper of God's voice one quiet night.

Don't ever underestimate the voice of the Lord.  It may be gentle, but it is powerful and effective.  It was His voice that created the world and everything in it.

If you have someone you are believing God will draw to Himself, don't ever give up.  He knows just when to speak, and His gentle whisper can cause the hardest heart to soften.
