Is Creation Experiencing Birth Pangs?

Romans 8:22-25 (The Message)
All around us we observe a pregnant creation. The difficult times of pain throughout the world are simply birth pangs. But it's not only around us; it's within us. The Spirit of God is arousing us within. We're also feeling the birth pangs. These sterile and barren bodies of ours are yearning for full deliverance. That is why waiting does not diminish us any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. We, of course, don't see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy.

Since the Japanese earthquake in March, I have become more aware of what is going on with nature.  The description of birth pains in Romans 8 certainly seems feasible.    Even this week, hearing of record-setting tornadoes across the country has been disturbing.  Many are suffering loss.

Romans 8 suggests the Spirit of God is arousing us within.  That is certainly true with me.  I have asked a lot of questions.  I wish I could say I have all the answers.  I don’t. However, God has challenged me to daily seek Him to discover what to do.

I don't believe it's a time of fear.  It's time to be joyful and expectant as this passage of scripture suggests.  I have discovered in the difficult times, God's voice is the clearest and His miracles the closest.  I have already heard some awesome stories of God's protection with people who have been through the tornadoes.

Maybe your storm is not a natural one but is financial or physical.  Whatever you are facing today, God wants to walk with you and guide you through.
